Real Madrid have been forced to settle for second place in Champions League Group H after being beaten to top spot by Tottenham.
In their final group stage match, Madrid edged to a 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund as Lucas Vazquez struck to secure three points for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
But it wasn’t enough to overhaul Tottenham, who had already sealed first place before their final match of the group stage.
The Champions League holders could now be handed a tough draw with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool all available.
WHO CAN REAL MADRID FACE?
Liverpool cannot draw another Spanish team, meaning they will avoid Barcelona in the next round. They will also be unable to play Tottenham as they were in the same group.
WHEN IS THE DRAW?
The draw will take place in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday 11 December. The first legs will be played on 13, 14, 20 and 21 February, and the second legs will be played on 6, 7, 13 and 14 March 2018.
