Manchester United have made contact with Atletico Madrid over a move for Antoine Griezmann and are ready to offer the Frenchman better personal terms than he’d receive at Barcelona.
The 26-year-old was set to move to Old Trafford last summer but United were forced to change their plans after the forward had a change of heart when Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban was upheld.
United signed Romelu Lukaku instead and cooled their interest in Griezmann, which has handed the upper hand to Barcelona.
The La Liga giants are confident of striking a deal to sign Griezmann, who is available for €100m next summer thanks to a clause in his contract.
However, United have reignited their interest in the France international and have made contact with Atletico over a deal, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Madrid giants are said to have informed United that a deal with Barcelona is underway but the Red Devils believe they can offer Griezmann a superior salary at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation but Griezmann recently opened the door to a move to United by admitting the transfer was a possibility.
The Frenchman is close friends with Paul Pogba and said he had a 60% chance of joining United last summer before Atletico had their ban upheld.
