FBI raids Trump’s lawyer’s office and seizes porn star payment documents

President Trumps personal lawyer Michael Cohen has had his offices raided by the FBI tonight, with "privileged" client documents being seized by law enforcement agencies.

According to Cohens lawyer, Stephen Ryan, the officials were acting on a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller who is investigating alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

US media reported that documents regarding a payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels – who claims she had a sexual encounter with Trump – were also seized.

Daniels has said she was paid to keep quiet about the extra-marital affair, but Trump has denied the allegations.

Ryan said the raid was “completely inappropriate and unnecessary”, and called the government tactics “wrong”.
