NEW DELHI: Giving details of their tours to China, Congress on Thursday said BJP presidents, RSS and Prime Minister Modi have been visiting the hostile neighbor regularly and have established a deep relationship with the Communist Party of China, asking the saffron camp to explain how this squares with the Chinese incursions.
“BJP must tell the nation if the ongoing standoff with China is happening despite the bonhomie Modi has with China or because of it,” AICC spokesman Pawan Khera said. Congress accused the BJP government of “fighting with Congress rather than China” and making allegations to divert peoples attention which pose a serious threat to India.
AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala asked if the government acknowledged the fresh Chinese build-up in Galwan and Pangong Tso areas and opening of a new front in Depsang despite the disengagement talks, and what was it planning to do about it.
Khera said China establishments mouthpiece Global Times wrote an editorial during the December 2017 Gujarat polls that Chinese firms wanted Modi to win in the state and the same newspaper had celebrated his appointment as PM in 2014, proclaiming that China felt comfortable working with him.
