The 5-day campaign, CPM chief Sitaram Yechury said will also focus on immediate cash transfer of Rs 7,500 per month for the next six months to all families outside the income tax bracket and immediate distribution of free foodgrains of 10 kg per individual every month for the next six months among the needy. “Issues such as the intensification of communal polarisation; targeting of minorities; large-scale attacks on democratic rights and civil liberties of our people; against the mounting brutal attacks on women, Dalits, adivasis and other marginalised sections, loot of national assets through privatisation and scrapping of labour laws will be highlighted,” he said.

After a meeting of the partys Politburo on Saturday, Yechury said the CPMs demands would include the expansion of MGNREGA to ensure at least 200 days of work a year with enhanced wages, an Urban Employment Guarantee Act, we well as the announcement of an allowance for all unemployed persons.
