Storyteller Tent at Saudi National Camel Festival

The first episode of “Storyteller Tent” starts on Thursday at the second King Abdul Aziz Camel Festival.

The program hosts a dialogue with camel owners Nasser M. Al-Bureik, Saif M. Al-Mazrou’I and Hamad O. Al-Muri. The dialogue is moderated by Mubarak bin Saif.

Moreover, Mohammed bin Sabil will present a meeting with poets Abdullah Bin Oun, Said M. Al-Aklabi and Naif bin Sha’mal, vocalist Saleh Al-Zuheiri, storyteller Abdullah Bin Merjah, and banjo player Obeid Al-Rashidi.

The festival’s spokesman. Sultan Al-Buqami, said that the “Storyteller Tent” aims to present popular cultural heritage orally through various events, including a dialogue session in which poets and storytellers talk about old poems and camel tales with a banjo music background.

Al-Buqami stressed the desire of the festival to present cultural heritage and traditional oral activities, and in showing their importance in connecting people with their deep past.

He also noted that the events of the “Storyteller Tent” are directed toward those interested in popular culture, and visitors of the festivals. These events, he added, will continue throughout the mid-year school vacation.

He added that the Storyteller Tent will host prominent poets and storytellers in the Kingdom at various events, and visitors will meet famous Saudi storytellers.
