RIYADH: Education authorities in Asir region, in the south west of Saudi Arabia, have announced all schools and their administrations (offices) will be suspended on Monday in Bisha and Tathlith governorates, with the exception of Balqarn (area).
According to the official spokesman for Bisha Education Authority, Naji Al-Subaie, the decision is based on meteorological reports of early warnings of rising dust and air fluctuations, as announced by the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection.
The decision was taken by Director of Bisha Education Authority to suspend the schools in Bisha and Tathlith provinces and their affiliated centers (for both boys and girls), while schools in Balqran and South Khaybar province will be open from Monday as usual.
Also, Najran University and its campuses in Sharurah, Yadamah and Hubuna will be closed on Monday.
It is not the first time weather has affected schools, as earlier in February, some schools across Saudi Arabia were closed for an entire week due to bad weather.
