JEDDAH: Prince Faisal bin Salman, governor of the Madinah region and chairman of the regional council, led the first meeting of the regional council of the second session for this year, in the presence of Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Faisal, deputy governor of the region.
Prince Faisal congratulated council members on the approval to amend the name of the Madinah Development Authority to the Development Authority of Madinah Region.
Prince Faisal reviewed the new system of the authority, adding that the amendment of the commissions scope increases the responsibility of the commission to continue providing services and development consultancy to Madinah and its governorates.
He stressed the councils role in project monitoring and measuring quality, through the performance measurement “Adaa,” that enables the regional council and government agencies to pursue projects in the area, understand the cost of the approved budget for each project, the proportion of spending in the budget, workflow, project completion rates and the obstacles they may face, and provide information to citizens about projects and requirements electronically and transparently.
Prince Faisal highlighted the need to evaluate outputs of development projects and performance of projects, as well as address errors and disclose causes of failure and delay of projects, if any.
The council also stressed the importance of integrated work, including activating the role of its committees, namely the public facilities and services committee, the project follow-up committee, the health and social development committee, the culture and education committee, the youth committee and the committee for womens affairs.
