JEDDAH: The importance of supporting and coordinating joint Arab humanitarian work was highlighted when the High Coordination Committee for Arab Joint Action held its 47th session on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the secretary-general of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

President of the Arab Organization for Tourism Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al-Fihaid thanked King Salman for agreeing to host the meeting, and for the support and facilities provided by the Kingdom.

The secretary-general of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO), Saleh Al-Suhaibani, highlighted the importance of supporting and coordinating joint Arab humanitarian work, especially in light of the multiple conflicts and recurrent humanitarian crises.

Such sessions highlight Arab solidarity in the integration of humanitarian efforts toward refugees and displaced people, he said.

Al-Suhaibani urged the Arab League to include Arab humanitarian work on the agenda of its forthcoming summit.

ARCO has reviewed the latest developments in certain Arab countries, particularly the suffering of more than 270,000 Syrians who have fled toward the border with Jordan, he said, warning of a new humanitarian disaster looming on the horizon.
