JEDDAH: Under the patronage of Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal, Effat University hosted the Third International Islamic Finance Conference on Thursday at the university’s campus.
Participants included many academic and financial leaders, as well as specialists in Islamic banking and finance, and entrepreneurship inside the Kingdom and abroad.
The conference aimed to address Islamic financial support to small and medium enterprises, which is necessary to achieve economic diversification as part of Vision 2030.
Dr. Samar Khan, the dean of the business college at Effat University, said that the need for small and medium institutions is growing to achieve the goals of Vision 2030.
Khan added that the world in general, and Saudi Arabia in particular, is working hard to increase the number of young entrepreneurs and to support them.
She said support had been provided through workshops, training and financial assistance to help entrepreneurs start their projects. She encouraged young people to establish their own projects because the Kingdom is fertile ground at the moment for all projects in the public and private sectors.
Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Saud, the co-founder and member of the board of directors of CBX Unit LLC, N.L., said he was honored to attend the conference, pointing out the long history of Effat University, which is known for its exceptional achievements.
